Olav Basoski
Amsterdam/Netherlands
Label - Rootz Records

Now I’m completely convinced Amsterdam has cornered the DJ market! WOW, I’ve been rockin out to Olav Basoski all day and I can’t get enough of this cat. Stop what your doing go to Beatport and grab the high-energy, rasta-injected dance tune ‘Waterman’. Seriously, be prepared to break it down where ever you are. I happened to be right in the middle of Suburban Station in Philly on my way into work and I certainly got some looks. Olav spends most of his time these days as the founder and creative behind Rootz Records and keeps his addicted fan base drugged with a steady stream of incredible hits. Me want more please!

Amsterdam/Netherlands
Label - Spinnin’/R&G Electronics/Tiger/Gusto/Rootz

I’m beginning to think the Dutch have cornered the DJ market. Last month we delivered on DJ Tiesto and now we bring you the equally talented Erick E. Hailing from Amsterdam, Erick E began his career in 1986 as a Hip/Hop DJ and in three short years won the Dutch DMC Champoinship. This guy has an impressive background, accomplishments and collaborators (he’s worked with the likes of Deep Dish, David Morales and Felix Da Housecat). I’m hoping someone can post a comment of where I can getmy hands on this cats music for my iPod cuz I just can’t find it anywhere. In the meantime check out the HouseQuake official dvd preview (BLM 09-2) ftr Erike E..hot stuff, I have to get here at some point.

For enthusiasts of hip/hop, experimental and turntablism you’ll most definitely want to check out Cut Chemist. Not only is he a incredible solo act but also a member of two high profile gangs: underground hip/hop Jurassic 5 and LA Latin funk band Ozomatli. An original member of 90’s LA rap group Unity Committee (which merged with Rebels of Rhythm to form Jurrasic 5), Cut Chemist dropped his debut album, ‘Live at the Future Primitive Sound Session’ in 1997 with DJ Shortkut of Invisibl Skratch Piklz. In 2004 Cut released ‘Litmus Test’ a remixed collection of his previous art. His most recent work, ‘The Audience’s Listening’ released in 2006 is an incredible compilation of turntable mastery. So much so Apple is using it in one of there nano TV ads

Tiësto
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Label - Blackhole Recordings

I was truly struck by the talented DJ Tiësto after reading about him in my now favorite lifestyle mag nylon and more specifically Nylon Guys. A little background on this cat but first some impressive stats:

+The first DJ in the world to sell out a solo stadium event for >25,000 people,
+Scored a number one hit with his single “Traffic”, the first of which to reach the top spot in his homeland, Holland in 23 years
+His remix of Delerium featured Sarah MCLuachlans “Silence” was the first house track ever broadcast on daytime radio in North America
+He played live during the Parade of the Athletes at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece
+One of the best DJ’s in the world!

Ok, the last one was all me but from what I gather, alot of folks around the globe share my view. Onwards..Tijs Verwest, aka Tiësto hails from Holland, is self-taught talent who honed his skills on the road working student parties and club shows during the 90’s. In 1997 Tiësto , along with Arny Bink, launched Blackhole Recordings,a Trance, House, Techno label that claims such artists as Tiësto, Phynn, Progression, Dj Preach, Johan Gielen, Jes, Cosmic Gate, Mr Sam. Always looking for creative ways to enhance his artistic skills, Tiësto spends a great deal of time experimenting with new sounds in the studio. This guy is one to keep watching (and listening). From his myspace page it looks like he’ll be in the US at various venues throughout the remainder of 2007. I couldn’d find a good link on itunes so buy his latest work ‘In the Dark’ at AOL Music
