Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer

I’m so stoked to finally be writing about Pa. based Powerpop band, Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer. I’ve been so completely off the hook on these guys thanks to my intro to ‘Arg! I’m a Pirate’ off The Popsicle LP, (Eyeball Records). Then someone hit me up with the video which was really, really well…odd but well done for an Indie band. More recently I’ve turned my attention to their new creative work Schematics. I pulled the tracks from iTunes prior to a cross country flight which made my day. I’ve just finished listening to the entire album and hands down I’m hooked on ‘Death or Radio’ and ‘Can’t Stand It’; both well orchestrated tracks blending the hard hitting vox of Rachel Minton , guitar and synth.

Check out the video ‘Arg I’m a Pirate’ at Fierce.com. More Zolof here.

Captured In Chinatown

Thanks Sick Rose from Las Bandidas Del Arte and keyboardist for Captured in China Town for the intro to yet another great band. Immediately heard the Green Day inspiration in ‘After Dark’, a well crafted, up-tempo track. Really, really liked ‘Does Not Compute’. This is a well rounded, talented band with a consistently good sound. Killer vocals are the tipping point for me and Adam has serious skills and range. Get their album ‘Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things’ at Blast My Music.

Oh No Not Stereo is a straight-up refreshing take on the Grunge/Pop genre I love from the 90’s. Listen to ‘Where Are You’ and you’ll think Blink-182 meets David Draiman from Disturbed on vox. Next I dove into ‘Every Link In The Chain’ and was equally impressed with how well these guys have orchestrated their music and lyrics. Their latest cuts ‘Brothers’, a hardcutting/bass induced preach and ‘I Can’t Say’, a toned down ONNS are versions of all good things to come with this band. Certainly impressive and I’ll be watching closely. Head on over to iTunes for all their music. Head on over to Fierce.com to check out more Oh No Not Stereo!

I was so stoked after listening to ‘You’re The Kind Of Girl’ that I bought the whole damn album, ‘Music For Plants’ on iTunes. Mixel has definitely secured a top spot as one of my all-time Indie Fav’s. Pretty cool inclusion in the video for the environmentally conscience campaign ‘Lets Green This City’
