Deaf Children At Play
Los Angeles, CA
Label - Indie

DCAP is simply straight up Rock and Roll done right! I stumbled upon this LA clan a few days ago and I’m now straight up hooked! Not much in terms of background on these cats. I know they aspire to create great music that transcends mainstream music and yah know what? I think they’re well on their way. Just check out ‘Red’, ‘Vampire’, and my absolute favorite ‘Beautiful Liar’. All are really well orchestrated tracks available off their self titled and self produced album DCAP. Check out this video and audio montage I pulled..enjoy!

Gunslingers Anonymous
KARMA (2008)
South Jersey, NJ

‘Karma’, GSA’s latest album, and track-for-track my favorite and most played band on my iPod, is simply pure genius. I’ve been a huge fan of this South Jersey duo since introduced to their music over a year ago now. I recall visiting their myspace page and launching a hilarious GSA promo video and realizing, I could party with these guys! Then the music, ahhh that was the clincher. I immediately dove into ‘This Type of Behavior’, to date my all time fav GSA track. The chill piano intro is deceiving…then bang straight into this rad synth number. Very, very cool. A close second is ‘The Distance Between Infatuation and Love is Closer Than We Had Thought (Boy, Did I have You)…Whew, yea that’s the track name and an incredible cut that spotlights Michael and Shane’s vox and instrumental talents. The lyrics are really Rounding out an incredibly solid album is ‘Save The World’ which GSA personally shared with Fierce.com before releasing to the general public. Pay particular attention to the fade throughout between ballad and hard hitting synth and guitar on this track, not to mention the incredible piano ending. Check out the video promo for ‘Karma’ at Fierce.com and show some love and download the album here.

Daize Shayne
Los Angeles, Ca
Label - BCS Records in the US, Woodbell in Japan, Mascot in Europe

The very talented, the very hot and the very cool Daize Shayne came to my attention thanks to my addiction with action sports site lat34. Daize is a two time world long board champion with a host of other surf accolades. She’s been a host for Blue Torch, ESPN, Fox Sports and has been featured in various surf movies including one of my favorites Step Into Liquid. You can check out the trailer here . Also an accomplished emerging musical talent, Daizes best categorized as high energy, rock/pop with such songs as ‘Naughty Girl’, ‘All I Wanna Do’, ‘Reach’ and and a personal fav ‘Why Can’t You Understand Me’. You can grab here music here for US orders. In January 2007, Daize signed on with Hurley in various capacities most notable as rare spoke model for the company. I’m sure this is one of many posts for Daize and we’ll enjoy keeping a watch on her. Rock on girl!

Year Long Disaster
Los Angeles, CA
Label - Volcom Entertainment

I’m a huge fan of LA based Year Long Distaster. I was introduced to their music after I pulled a Volcom videocast off itunes last month of a skateboard skill comp set to their hit track ‘It Ain’t Luck’. Very rad stuff. Someback ground on these cats. Lead vocal and guitrist Daniel Davies is the son of Dave Davies of The Kinks. Born in London, Daniel spent the first nine years of his life on the road touring with the band. Shortly thereafter his family moved from London to Los Angeles. From what I understand Daniel liked to party…h-a-r-d-c-o-r-e. In 2003 he met Bassist Rich Mullins a founding member of the instrumental hard rock band Karma to Burn while perusing the aisles of a local liquor store. Mullins penchant for partying was apparently as strong as Davies and the two became good buddies and roomates at Music Cares Foundation’s rehab clinic. Almost a year later, Davies and Mullins were hanging out at Scene Bar in Glendale, Ca where they met, unbeknownst to them, then Third Eye Blind Drummer drummer Brad Hargreaves. From there the rest is history. The trio formed Year Long Disaster, signed on with Indie label Volcom Entertainment and cut their first album. Their debut album is due out in September 2007 and will be available at Volcom Entertainment.
